12 Podcasts to Accelerate Your Career

As a full-time mom who still loves her career, reading time has taken a BIG HIT. I still love to read, and if you’re interested in some great books I’ve read over the last 2 years check out, 12 Inspiring Books to Enhance Your Career in 2018 and 12 Books to Kick-Start your #Career.

Because the inverse of time pre and post child, I’ve turned to podcasts to stay up-to-date and keep motivated, it’s been my secret weapon this past year. Plus, podcasts are SO IN, almost every celebrity is dabbling in the podcasting world, from Will Ferrell AKA “Ron Burgandy” to Conan O’Brien. Podcasting’s popularity continues to rise as we seek ways to save time by multitasking.

1. The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes

I’ve been getting inspired by Lewis since 2013, he has some of THE BEST interviews with a variety of guests who share inspiring stories from some of the most brilliant business minds, world-class athletes, and influential celebrities on the planet to help you find out what makes people great.

2. This Is Your Life with Michael Hyatt

Michael is a former publishing house CEO, gives highly practical tips on how to boost your energy, become a morning person, escape perfectionism, delegate effectively (even without a team!), and say no with ease. Sounds amazing, right? His podcast is now in its sixth season so you can scroll through and find an episode for almost any current career challenge.

3. The Charged Life With Brendon Burchard

A high-performance expert and New York Times bestselling author, Burchard taps into the human drives that make us feel alive—which he refers to as living a “charged” life. He’s the best to tune into when you need a real boost or an attitude adjustment. Personally, I use this as a Monday morning energy injection that gets me pumped for the week ahead.

4. The Career Confidante with Marie Zimenoff

Marie invites you to learn what you need to know today for tomorrow’s career success. Sharing the inside scoop on hiring trends, explain how to earn a promotion, and explore what hiring managers are saying across a variety of industries. Jenna is a career coach and entrepreneur who’s resume work is highlighted in the WSJ Bestseller The New Rules of Work.

6. RISE Podcast

If you’re a fan of Rachel Hollis like I am you will love this podcast with tangible and tactical tools for your life and business. Rachel is a New York Times Best-Selling author and RISE a series of bold conversations with fellow business powerhouses and personal development leaders that provides the listener with real-life valuable takeaways.

7. The Tim Ferris Show or Tribe of Mentors

Tim is a self-experimenter and bestselling author of The 4-Hour Workweek, he deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, chess, pro sports, etc.) digging deep to find the tools, tactics, and tricks that listeners can use. Even if you’re not a hug fan of Tim, his popularity leads to the best podcast guest. The Tim Ferris show podcasts are quite long I would recommend his spinoff podcast, Tribe of Mentors.

8. Safe for Work

Life at work can be funny, challenging, ridiculous, and – yes, even satisfying. The podcast is all about helping you find balance and happiness in your career. Many of us spend more time with our co-workers and clients than friends and family. Get expert advice on challenging situations like negotiating raises, knowing when it’s time to move on…or dealing with co-workers with no boundaries.

Amy answers the question of, “How do I start an online business? Grow my email list? Sell and grow faster? Amy is easy to listen to and she really dives deep into step-by-step guides and nitty gritty.

12. The Mind Your Business Podcast with James Wetmore

All entrepreneurs want to know the secret to success. James is a seven-figure online entrepreneur, believes success is created by mindset over strategy, magic over metrics, and attitude over action. James untangles common misconception that hustle, and hard work are all it takes to be successful.

To balance out the self-development podcasts, I have to give away my guilty pleasure podcast. It’s Johnjay & Rich On Demand, a morning radio show out of Phoenix that cracks me up with their hilarious bits including Humpday Dumpday, Second Date Update, and War of the Roses.
